SPRING 2021 REGISTRATION OPEN!

Spring Semester runs for 15 weeks of classes between January 18th, 2021 and May 15th, 2021.

The spring schedule differs from the fall in the following ways:

  • Level 6 pods are combined into a single class

  • Levels 3 & 4 are still in their pods but will be in-studio both days

  • Pointe technique classes added on Fridays (see below for more info)

Safety First: The safety of our students, instructors, staff, families, and community is our top priority. Every decision is made with care and intention to keep us all safe and dancing. We will hold classes in person with as many students as we can safely have in a studio at a time, keeping distances according to current guidelines. Masks will be required.

Level Placement: Classes up to Level 1 are by age as of January 1. Previously enrolled families with students older than 9 should register at their fall semester level. New students should contact us to assess initial level for registration. Especially at the beginning of the semester, students’ levels may be adjusted to provide them with the best opportunity to grow.

Tuition: All tuition is for one semester - 15 weeks of classes. Check the School Year Calendar for dates. If you notice a slight difference from the fall tuition, it is because the fall prices reflected a credit for fees paid for the May 2020 Progress Performance. The Spring tuition does not include any performance fees and we will assess May 2021 as we get closer.

Upon registration, you have the option to select from three payment options: paid in full, 5th, or 25th. Should you select paid in full, your payment will be processed at the end of the day on which you registered. If a day of the month was selected, your total balance will divided into four equal parts. Each part will be drafted on your selected date beginning in the month of January.

Good Choices: We will work with you to allow you to make the best choice for your comfort and everyone’s safety. Options include refunding classes missed for COVID, future make-up classes, Zoom options.

Jackrabbit login: a reminder to previously enrolled families to use your existing login and update any changed information.

We know this can be confusing. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions and check back here frequently. We will be updating this page as new information becomes available.

Core Curriculum

2020-DW_SCHOOL-LineFigure_6.jpg

Ballet and Modern dance are at the core of Dancers’ Workshop’s curriculum. It is recommended that students study ballet and modern simultaneously.

Students advance through a carefully developed curriculum designed to teach the technique of each discipline while exploring nature, music, art, and human emotions as impetus for movement. Proper alignment and use of breath are emphasized and progress into investigating quality of structural form, oppositional energy, moving through space, directional changes, fall and recovery, speed, and performance quality.

These classes all meet twice a week in 6 levels.

Ballet Classes

Ballet students learn the highly technical language of ballet, emphasizing correct alignment, strength, flexibility, balance, grace, focus, discipline, musicality, and self-expression.

Pointe can be added as students age and their fundamental technique gains strength and consistency. While some ballet class work may be done on pointe, we encourage enrollment in Pointe technique class for more focused work.

Modern Classes

Modern dance explores movement, space, rhythm, and the dancers’ own creativity with emphasis on deliberate use of gravity.

Electives

*In our current schedule, elective offerings are limited. We will be expanding these offerings in the future as conditions allow.

Pointe Technique

Specific instruction on the technique for pointe work available to students in level 4 or higher. Please choose Pointe Technique 1 if you are new to pointe or have been on pointe for less than 2 school years. Choose Pointe Technique 2 if you have been on pointe for more than 2 school years.

Students who are not yet on pointe and are in Level 4 Ballet or higher should choose Pointe Technique 1 and can start without pointe shoes (pre-pointe). The school directors must approve all new pointe students. When a pre-pointe student is ready, we will advise you on getting fitted for pointe shoes. Please Contact Us with your questions about Pointe.
