The skull has been the symbol of humanity for thousands of years. Our ancestors have revered the skull since prehistoric times. ‘ Sacrum’ has its etymological root in ‘ Sacred’, the sacrum bone is, among other things, the fulcrum of support for the human torso, and as such is well designed to take great physical stress.

Much of what we know as CRANIOSACRAL WORK® was researched and developed by Dr. Willam Garner Sutherland at the start of the twentieth century. Dr. Sutherland  perceived all cells of the body need to express a rhythmic breathing  in order for them to maintain optimal ability. Through his profound  knowledge of human anatomy along with finely tuned tactile senses, he discovered that the subtle respiratory movements can be palpated by sensitive hands.

CRANIOSACRAL WORK® is based upon the thorough knowledge of cranial and sacral anatomy and requires sensitive hands to enable the practitioner to discern, and then optimize the cranial wave formations. The classical definition of the craniosacral system includes the 22 bones in the cranium, 33 bones in the spine, the sacrum, the membranes that connect them all, and the cerebrospinal fluid that circulates within the spine and cranium. CRANIOSACRAL WORK® can be an effective therapy and supports healing for anxiety, headaches, neck and back pain, whiplash, concussions, jaw pain (TMJD), sinus issues, trauma and surgery recovery.

Think of yourself as an electric battery. Electricity seems to have the power to explode or distribute oxygen, from which we receive the vitalizing benefits. When it plays freely all through your system, you feel well. Shut it off in one place and congestion results.
